Church Aston Infant School

Our School

Church Aston Infant School is full of boys and girls aged 4, 5, 6 and 7 years of age. It is situated in the village of Church Aston Newport, Shropshire.

The Victorian building that was first established in 1840 by Queen Victoria is still in use to this day. Church Aston Infant School is quite small with around 50 pupils on roll.
In 2005 we gained the Basic Skills Quality Mark.
In 2005 Church Aston Infant School was named in HMCI Ofsted annual report for being one of the most successful in England. In December 2006 we were awarded the Active Mark from Sport England in recognition of the sporting and physical opportunities our pupils are able to participate in.

The school is supported by a dedicated team of teachers, teaching assistants and parents. It has the benefit of excellent technological resources, including computer stations, Promethean interactive whiteboards and a range of high quality digital resources.

We encourage our pupils to develop healthy lifestyles and attitudes as we believe this is fundamental for becoming well rounded individuals. We have environmental areas for growing plants and encouraging local wildlife, and a large colourful and safe play-area for the children to run about in. We have installed a soft surface to our playground called 'TigerTurf'. This wonderful playground covering has enhanced the physical and sports learning for our pupils, and dramatically reduced playground accidents. The play area is supervised by members of staff at all times, when in use.

We work in an environment that stimulates the natural curiosity and creativity of our students. We work hard to ensure our school is comfortable, friendly and safe for all.
